How It Works

Member Commitment

  • Any woman with an interest in supporting non-profit organizations in Lawrence County, Indiana is welcome to join us! Members are asked submit a commitment form.

  • Each member must commit to donating $100 per meeting ($400 per year).

  • If you are unable to attend, please give your check to another member to deliver on your behalf.

  • Each member's donation shall be given to the non-profit charity selected by the vote of the membership.

  • Meetings are held once per quarter.  Every attempt will be made to limit  the meeting to two hours or less with opportunities to socialize  before and after our meetings.

Nomination, Selection, and Donation Process

  • Three weeks prior to the coming quarterly meeting, all members will receive an email with nomination submission forms. All members are welcome to nominate a Lawrence County non-profit or 501(c)(3) organization of their choice within 48 hours of receiving the email. Organizations only can be nominated, not individuals.

  • The LCWC board members will compile a list of vetted organizations that have been nominated.*

  • The list of organizations will be emailed out to all members to vote for their top three.

  • The top three charities will then be contacted and asked to give a 10-15 minute presentation at the meeting. In order for the charity to be eligible, there must be a representative present at the event to give a presentation. In the presentation, the nonprofit must be able to speak to how the donated money will be utilized in their organization in support of the Lawrence County community.

  • Each member brings a $100 check to the meeting with the "Pay to the Order of" line left blank, to be filled out after the final voting. All checks will be placed in a locked box at check-in and will be filled out after voting.

  • Members will then vote on their top charity. The winning organization will receive the collective $100 checks**, up to $10,000. Anything above $10,000 will be split between the other two charities.

  • Donations are made directly to the selected non-profit by individual members. LCWC does not handle any of the funds and does not take any cut. All proceeds go directly to the selected charity.

  • Tax deduction statements may be sent directly to each member from the selected organization.

  • Nominated organizations cannot add donors from this group to their solicitation lists. Any organization violating this rule will be ineligible to be nominated in the future. Members may request to be added to solicitation lists individually.

  • If an organization wins the vote and that organization violates a member's moral and/or religious beliefs, the member should contact the LCWC board and arrangements will be made for that member's donation to go to the #2 or #3 nominated charity. This is a decision made between the individual member and the board.

  • LCWC board members reserve the right to reject any nomination that violates the above reasons, or for any reason not mentioned. The board will explain why it was rejected. LCWC board members also reserve the right to change these nomination standards at any time.

*LCWC Board Members are excluded from the nomination and voting process until the final voting.

**$100 = one vote. Any additional $100 above the initial donation allows that member to cast an extra vote. ($200 = 2 votes, and so on)
